How to Correctly Wash Your Detailing Towels

Introduction
Washing your detailing towels can definitely become confusing if you have no idea what to do, but we're going to make this a very simple process for you with these quick tips!

Separate Paint Towels from Multi Purpose - Before you start the cleaning process, make sure to keep the towels you use on your paint separated from towels you use on wheels, tires, and other areas of the car that see the most filth and dirt. When washing and drying, little microscopic contaminants can still embed themselves in your towel and be very hard to see.

These microscopic contaminants (rock pebbles, ends of leaves, sticks) can end up scratching your paint, causing a timely or expensive paint correction process that will have to be redone. Separating towels by color coding will help easily distinguish your beloved paint towels, lessening your chances of future swirls or scratches.

Wash on Gentle and Warm/Cold - The rule of thumb for washing microfiber towels is: Never use fabric softener and never wash your towels with hot temperatures. This can melt fibers and potentially destroy them. Always stay safe and at the most, wash them on warm.

Dry with Air or Cold/Warm Air - Air drying makes it ten times easier to keep them clean. Lint from your previous load can stick onto your towels and make it a pain to remove. Also, unknown substances are known to line the inside walls of dryers which can also stick to your towel.

Stay Away From High Heat Drying as this will cause the fibers on your towels to melt, making them not as absorbent. The tiny fibers tend to twist when melted and cause the towel to actual harden which can cause more swirls, scratches, and marring.

    Hey Jesse,
I’m just getting into the detail game. I’ve also determined that separation between the class of towels will lengthen the life as well. Grading towels A(new) B (out of package) C (used) D(trash). Hoping that washing the towels within their class of filth will maintain them. I’m ready to receive my intensive collection kit I recently ordered!
