Have you ever looked at your leather and noticed they have a shiny, greasy appearance to them? While shine often conveys a sense of cleanliness, when it comes to leather car interiors, this is certainly not the case 99% of the time.
Every day you are getting in and out of your car. Over time things like body oils, jean dies, dirty clothes, etc. get trapped in the pores of your leather seats. When this happens, leather starts to get a shiny, greasy appearance.
I'm going to show you how to use Absolute All Purpose Cleaner to bring your leather back to factory look.
Here's what you'll need: Absolute All Purpose Cleaner (Diluted 6:1 [water:oz]), a leather brush (or any other soft brush), and a microfiber towel.
On the leather you’ll be cleaning, start by vacuuming the interior so you are working in a clean area. Spray Absolute into the brush. This will make it create the most soapy lather. Agitate the area with your brush. This will release all of the dirt and oils that have been trapped in the pores over time.
This method will bring all of the dirt and oils up to the surface. Wipe off the excess with a microfiber towel. Depending on the severity of the dirt and/or greasiness, you may need to repeat until your desired results are achieved.
Inspect and enjoy your clean seats. Repeat this every 3-6 months. Remember to always inspect and clean in a gentle manner. If it is a higher end vehicle, be sure to clean very, very gently.
If you want to go ahead and condition your leather, you can at the end. Some conditioners will leave a darker finish and can add a slight sheen to the leather. It is not needed. Most modern day leather has a top clear coat like paint.
Cleaning leather is something I don't recommend doing every detailing job. I would suggest every 3 to 6 months.
